Balkan Trafik ! Festival is back !

A reinvented Balkan Trafik ! for the 2021 edition with a programme spread over four cities and an all-new digital presence.

Having had to adjust its 2020 edition because of the pandemic, the multi-arts festival Balkan Trafik !, which will be held from 21 to 25 April 2021, is spreading to Brussels, Namur, Charleroi and Bruges. This edition will highlight the diversity of the culture of the Balkans, with artists such as Goran Bregovic, Naked, Gipsy Groove, Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar, Zdob și Zdub and Dubioza Kolektiv, among others. It will be possible to live-stream the programme and watch it on a new mobile app.

In order to welcome the public in the best possible conditions, the concerts will be held in several venues with smaller seating capacities in Brussels and three other cities in the north and south of the country.

The organizers will take all the necessary precautions to ensure that the festival can take place in compliance with the sanitary measures in force by implementing various strategies.

To prepare for any eventuality, different scenarios have been envisaged depending on the level of restrictions imposed by the authorities : maintaining concerts with authorized seating capacity ; or shifting to an entirely digital programme.

In any case, all concerts will be live-streamed, and viewers will also enjoy a look to the backstage, with interviews and Q&As with the artists before the concerts. The festival is also developing a smartphone and tablet app that will offer free and exclusive content such as the documentary series Balkan What ? as well as newsfeeds from the Courrier des Balkans (in French), and the Euronews/Balkan and Osservatorio Balcani (in English). Thanks to this constantly updated information, you will have access to the latest news from the region and treated from three different angles.

True to its reputation, Balkan Trafik ! will show the whole of the Balkans through a wide range of artistic disciplines : literature, visual arts (including street art in Brussels) debates on topics that bring us together (with the expertise of DG Regio) and of course music in all its diversity. Each venue will have a specific programme : jazz, rock, urban, world music. The richness of tradition and folklore will be in free access on the Grand-Place in Brussels and Charleroi).

Among the confirmed artists are Goran Bregovic & his Wedding and Funeral Big Band, Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar, Zdob și Zdub, Dubioza Kolektiv, Naked, and Gipsy Groove. The festival will also include two unique jazz and rock creations : the Balkan Jazzović Quartet featuring Teodosii Spassov & Trixie Whitley that will be led by Nathan Daems & Vasil Hadzimanov, and the Rocking Beez led by Piet Decoster & Thomas Morzewski. These concerts will bring together the best artists from Belgium and the Balkans such as the famous singer Amparo Sanchez, from the band Amparanoia.

Locations : Brussels, Namur, Charleroi and Bruges
Dates : 21 to 25 April 2021
The people that were already in possession of a ticket for the concert of Goran Bregovic have free access to the concert.
